“I have almost come to the end of this semester. Next week am beginning exams and am reading hard for better results. This semester we have been very busy and i have gained much experience which is a bit different from clinical experience which I have gained in the previous academic years. I had administration and leadership placement in Butabika psychiatry hospital where I was able to interact with the nurse in-charge. This helped learn leadership responsibilities, planning, organizing, monitoring and evaluation while a manager in an organisation.
I also had domiciliary practice where one is supposed to book a pregnant woman from antenatal clinic ,conduct her labour, discharge the mother, go with her home and nurse her plus the baby for 7 days after delivery( I did 3 cases). All at a free fee. It needed handwork and time but all in all it was fun!!.
Finally we had community health nursing. This time round we moved from hospital setting to people's homes. We had community practice in Mpigi district which is found on Masaka-Mbarara road. We health educated people in their families and communities.
Much love to u as u sleep tonight, may u sleep like a newborn.” Gretta Scholar
